Well, I think I'll cease posting on Xanga for the time being, at least. It seems they are practically trying to force us into "going premium" by placing ads in the sidebar. It was one thing to have the banner ads at the top, but SAG Harbor clothing? Give me a break. Those ads make it look like I'm actually endorsing the junk they put there, and I don't. So, I'll just stick to blogger from now on. Here's the link.

I wondered where those ads were coming from and how little they matched my xanga friend's tastes. I went premium in a moment of weakness because I hated the banner ads at the top.

I'll keep up with you at blogger.

I know exactly what you mean. It seems awfully underhanded of them. I'm seriously considering abandoning Xanga as well after a stunt like this.

I fully agree. I think I should simply give up my Xanga blog, since I don't do much posting. My blog has already been attacked by these annoying adds, but thankfully there is no SAG Harbour clothing, just some links to websites. I will never go to Premium, for numerous reasons.

I'm setting up a Wordpress blog right now. I actually like it better than Blogger, and I'd encourage those who haven't switched yet to do so. No ads over there, thank goodness, you have full control over the content of your page and it's overall a much more pleasing atmosphere.

I have set up a Wordpress, but I much prefer Blogger. No ads there, either, and enough control for me!

It was the nice appearance of Carol's xanga site that made me pay for premium. I'm not sorry I did. Still not sure why I continue with two sites (xanga and blogger), but I'm not ready to shut one down.

Don't care for the ads myself but so far I'm mostly advertising cookie recipes and knitting patterns.

Generally NSA students don't sell of their books, porbably becasue they aren't textbooks. They're books you'd want to have in your library. Fraser may have sold his Biology text. We're hoping he'll lend some of his to Claire to reduce her costs a little.

Vic gave me Wilkie Collins titles and I gave him a Schmemann title along with a few other books. Claire asked for everything from N.T. Wright to "The Core" and Fraser asked for a very expensive but beautiful copy of Herodotus. He doesn't even need it any more for history. That means Claire can at least use his other copy when she needs it in 2nd year.
